Changes in the England rules from 29 March
Some of the rules on what you can and cannot do changes on 29 March. Read the ‘COVID-19 Response – Spring 2021’ for information on the government’s roadmap out of lockdown in England.
From 29 March:
- People can now meet outdoors either in a group of 6 (from any number of households).
- Also people in a group of any size from up to 2 households can meet outdoors. (This include existing support bubbles from each household, if eligible)
- You are now allowed to be in a formally organised outdoor sports with any number of people. (with the reopening of outdoor sports venues and facilities)
- Your children will be allowed outdoor childcare and supervised activities
- parent and child groups will be able to attend formally organised outdoor activities for up to 15 attendees. The number count excludes children under 5.
If you are an extremely vulnerable person, you will no longer be advised to shield from the 1st of April. You should continue to take extra precautions for self protection.
It is important to keep the number of social interactions minimal. This is to limit the amount of time spent settings where maintaining social distancing is difficult. You should have received a letter from the NHS if you belong to this group. Contact your local authority or speak to your GP if you have any concerns.
When are you allowed to leave home?
Without ‘reasonable excuse’ you are not allowed to leave your home or be outside your home.
The police is allowed to take action against you and also issue you with a fine (Fixed Penalty Notice)if you are found outside your home ‘without reasonable excuse’ as this is the law.
A Fine of £200 can be given for your first offense and increased to a maximum of £6,400.
What is a reasonable excuse?
Work
Where you are unable to do your work from home, you can leave home to work in your designated office. This includes people who work within critical national infrastructure, manufacturing and construction where physical attendance is required.
